Al llegar a Bodhgaya descubrimos que es el lugar de peregrinacion mas importante del budismo: donde Buda alcanzo la Iluminacion.
Encontramos alojamiento en uno de los muchos monasterios budistas.

Despues de observar como las mujeres hindues adoran al “lingan” en el Festival de Shivaratri, mientras comiamos disfrutamos, por fin, de un espectaculo de un encantador de cobras.

Con el te llego Raquel y todas sus pacientes ensenyanzas: budismo, dalits, tradiciones, supersticiones,etc. Visitamos algunos templos, el Gran Buda

y semi-meditamos en el templo japones.
Durante los 2 dias siguientes visitamos el proyecto de la ONG Akshy (www.akshy.org) el cual consiste en proporcionar educacion, asistencia medica y cuidados a, por hoy, 101 ninyos dalits.
La experiencia ha sido maravillosa y como compensacion realizamos un taller de papel mache con los chic@s.

Nos sentimos muy agradecidas por haber conocido a Raquel que ademas de darnos todas estas oportunidades nos ha dado a conocer la comida tibetana, nos invito a comer en su modesto y acogedor hogar nuestra unica ensalada del viaje y haciendo uso de su experiencia como guia turistico nos condujo a traves de los misterios del magico Mahabodhi Mahavihara Temple.

DALITS AND BUDDHISM

At our arrival to Bodhgaya we found out that it is the most important place in the world for Buddhists’ pilgrimage, as it was here where Buddha reached the enlightment. We stayed in a monastery.
After observing how Hindu women adored the lingam in the Shivaratry festival, during lunch we saw, finally, a snake charmer.
At tea time, Raquel arrived with all her knowledge that she shared patiently with us about Buddhism, untouchables, traditions, superstitions, etc. We visited some temples, the Great Buda and we semi-meditated in the Japanese temple.
The following two days we visited the Akshy Project which consists of giving educational, medical and general cares to 101 dalit kids.
The experience has been marvelous and as our contribution we made a handicrafts workshop with the children.
We feel grateful for having met Raquel, that apart from giving us this opportunity, introduced us to Tibetan food and invited us to her modest and homey apartment where we ate the first and last salad of the trip, and using her guiding tour experience led us through the mysteries of the magic Mahabodhy Mahavihara Temple.
